The members of Negros Bloggers Guild were invited to join the event and PinayMommy will have a talk on bloggging and how to make money from blogs.Masscom students of the University of St. La Salle will give a tutorial on internet and WiFi to the senior citizens. This reminds me of the lolatechie ad and surely, our lolos and lolas should not feel left behind by technology. Most have relatives abroad and harnessing the power of the internet is a cost effective way to connect with families and friends.
I’m also excited about the Best Blog Contest that will be introduced by SM City Bacolod. It’s a good way to motivate bloggers to keep on blogging. Now that we have organized the Negros Bloggers Guild, there are already several events lined up for us. The SM City Bacolod’s mallwide WiFi will likewise be advantageous for us since we can have free WiFi access at the mall during meetings.

Transcom Bacolod to Start Operation In August
July 22, 2009

It seems Transcom Bacolod will start operation earlier than previously planned. Instead of September 2009, Transcom Center Bacolod located at the Lopue’s South Square will start operation on August 1, 2009.
Full operation is expected by the end of the year with the hiring of 2,000 call center agents. Its facilities will be inaugurated in October in time for the Masskara. Bacolod is Transcom’s second site after it opened its facility in Pasig City last year.
The opening of several BPO companies in Bacolod offered good job opportunities for Bacoleños. These companies are even encouraging call agents from Bacolod employed in other cities to return to Bacolod. This way, they no longer need to work away from their families but still enjoy the perks of working in an international BPO company.

Sta. Fe Resort: Bacolod City’s First
July 11, 2009

The pioneer will always have a first mover advantage over it’s competitors. That’s why if you ask people in Bacolod to give you a resort’s name, Sta Fe Resort would come to mind. Sta. Fe Resort is the oldest privately owned resort in Bacolod City established in the 1940’s.

Sta. Fe Resort is ideal for weekend family outings, family gatherings and events and also for company outings, conferences and conventions. Dorm and room accommodation is available and there are function rooms with different capacities to choose from.

Sta. Fe Resort also has several distinctions aside from being the first resort in Bacolod. It’s the only resort with a chapel, a mini zoo and a complete gun club facility.

How to get there:
Sta. Fe Resort is located in Brgy. Granada, Bacolod City and is very accessible. It is around 7 km. from Bacolod City and about 20 minutes travel by private car and public utility vehicle.
When taking public utility jeep, take the jeepneys plying the Sta. Fe-Burgos route at the Burgos Market. This will take you right at the gate of Sta. Fe Resort. It’s hard to miss Sta. Fe Resort since it is located in front of San Muguel Brewery.

Negros Products Showcased in OTOP Trade Fair
July 9, 2009

Negros Occidental products takes center stage in the opening of the Department of Trade & Industry’s The One Town, On Product (OTOP) Trade Fair at the parking lot of the ANP Showroom today.
With the theme “OTOP… Bugal sg Negros,” the trade fair showcases the OTOP products of the different municipalities and cities in the province.
OTOP Philippines is a priority project of President GMA where local executives choose a product that is distinct in their locality and has competitive advantage. OTOP is geared toward bringing to the mainstream market products and services distinct to a Philippine town or city.
This is also another way to encourage patronage of locally made products in order to inspire local Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to continue to become more productive and sustainable.
Take pride in our local products like the puto of Manapla, dried fish of Cadiz, pandan products of Toboso and Calatrava, organic rice of Moises Padilla and many more.
The trade fair will run until July 11 so come and visit the ANP Showroom and experience the best of Negros Occidental products all in one place.

First Negros Bloggers Meet-Up
July 6, 2009

For the past three weeks we’ve been busy meeting, inviting and networking with fellow Negros bloggers in preparation for the First Negros Bloggers Meet-Up on July 4. At the same time it was also the DigitalFilipino Club Networking Night. We have to thank Ms. Janette Toral of the DigitalFilipino Club for spearheading this event. Our gratitude also for Casino Filipino PAGCOR Bacolod for hosting the event.
Ms. Janette updated us on the activities fo the DigitalFilipino Club. Those who heard of it for the first time got to know what the club is all about, how to become a members and the benefits of being a member.
She also encouraged us to actively participate on the following DigitalFilipino Club activities:
- Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs 2009 Update
- DigitalFilipino Web Awards 2009
- Philippine Schools Cyberfair 2010
The networking night was attended by 62 guests who are bloggers, SEO professionals, e-services providers, and online social network users. There were also bloggers who came all the way from Iloilo to attend the event.
I had the chance to meet in person Junelle and Marcos, my fellow members of IloiloBloggers. Yes, I’m a member of both the Iloilo and Negros Bloggers community. For those who may not know it, I’m born and raised in Iloilo but now resides in Bacolod City. So now that explains my “dual citizenship”.
The Negros Bloggers core group were all there, Mommy Rubz, Mae, Sigrid, Dennis, Maricar, MM, Dha-Dha and Ace. Fellow members of Skyscrapercity forum Annie May and Eric (The Byahilo) were also there. Eric has been very kind to include me whenever he gets Media ID to events like he did during the Panaad sa Negros.
Thanks to PAGCOR for the great food, wine, and good music. PAGCOR also gave us vouchers so most of us get to experience playing in the casino for the first time. The staff were very patient with us and gave us instructions on how to place our bets. It might be beginners luck so most bloggers went home with some winnings.
The whole event was a blast. It was a great start for us to network with fellow bloggers and other online users. We, Negros Bloggers, are already planning out succeeding activities. Others were planning on their return to the PAGCOR Casino.
