Since  its inception 5 years ago, the Bacolaodiat Festival has become a tourist attraction for Bacolod City. Bacolaodiat was coined from from “Bacolod” and “Lao Diat” Fokien word for celebration). The celebration is a recognition of the contribution of the Filipino-Chinese community to the country and a venue for the unity of two cultures.

coverage ka girl for the activities? will there be activities near our place this year?

    • Negros Occidental says:

Of course! You’re in Bacolod City’s China Town girl. The Chopsticks Alley is near Triangle Island Plaza Mall same as last year. Girl, my bad. The activities for this year’s Bacolaodiat will be at Lacson Tourism Strip and not at the Shopping are. :P

  2. Francis says:

    uh… no dragon dance?

I still have to experience this event, I left Bacolod way back 1994, and only go home for the Christmas Holidays… :)

  3. Paolo L. says:

Where will the fireworks display be placed? Is it near the lagoon or near Triangle Island Plaza?

    • Negros Occidental says:

There’s usually one at the Lagoon and perhaps at the Triangle Island Plaza also. The activities will be at Lacson Tourism Strip and the North Capitol Lagoon and no longer be at the Shopping are.

  4. eric says:

ui wala na sa shopping ang chopsticks alley kag ang festival site.. ara na sa capitol…

  5. Francis says:

Lacson Tourism Strip … sounds new!… where is this?

    • Negros Occidental says:

It’s that part of Lacson St. from the Capitol Lagoon up to the BS Aquino drive. They call it the Tourism Strip because it’s becoming a tourist destination even without the festivals. There you can find restaurants serving local and international cuisine.

      • Francis says:

Hi, thanks for the info. So I’ve been there-abouts… already!… Too bad that nice club down the street closed down … Empire?.. Emperor?… can’t recall the name … The one in front of Sorento… Familiar faces converge there during the X-mas Holidays.. Great times.. :D
