Bacolod City: Best in Economic Development in Western Visayas

Bacolod City bested other cities in Western Visayas in the Economic Development category of the Pagdayaw Awards 2008 of DILG Region VI. Barangay Taculing of Bacolod City also won the Excellence in Lupong Tagapamayapa award.
The Pagdayaw Awards is an annual awarding ceremonies initiated by DILG Region VI to recognize best performing local government units and to highlight best practices that can be replicated by other LGUs.
Negros Occidental is the Best Performing Province after bagging three out of four major awards. Other cities and municipalities in Negros Occidental also won various awards.
This is a very fruitful year for Bacolod City and Negros Occidental since various awards were given to both LGUs. This is an indication that the city and provincial governments are moving in tandem in terms of development programs and projects.
Bacolod City ranked fifth in the Next Wave Cities for Outsourcing and was also among Emerging Global Outsourcing Cities.
