Here in Makati , you can source fresh diwal at the Saturday Salcedo Organic market. Its around Php 450.00 a kilo? (or a pail).. I actually forgot.. !!!... But we did buy 2... and managed to haggle the price down to 375.00..... You'd have to clean them though before cooking / broiling...

Have steaming fragant rice, spicy sinamak, sliced tomatoes, and ice cold coke prepared beforehand... :D

Indeed, Roxas City is the seafood capital of the Philippines. Their oysters are simply the best in the country.

@Francis - LOL! that's supposed to be a green jok, right? I'm not really sure but if diwal is in season it will hopefully find it's way in Pala-Pala and other seafood restaurants in Bacolod. They would cost a little expensive though. If you can drive to Valladolid then you will get diwal at bargain price there.

No wonder I don't see these anymore... I used to joke around with my friends that there's no more "diwal".... "lidit" na lang... (corny joke eh?).. :D

We used to wrap them in foil, then broil them over slow burning charcoal... peel open the top shell... add a dash of sinamak.... YUMMY... :D

I'll add this to my "must-eat-list" when I visit. Any chance you can recommend a place in Bacolod to get fresh diwal?

Thank you
