Excellent Restaurants You Must Try in Vancouver, Canada

We can’t travel yet due to the Covid19 pandemic but that’s not a reason why we can’t learn more about other places in the world. There are practically OFWs anywhere in the world and Canada is no exception. According to the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa, there are 837,130 people in Canada with Filipino ethnic origin as of May 2016. census. The provinces with the most number of Filipinos are Ontario followed by Alberta and British Columbia. In terms of Metropolitan Areas, Toronto remained the Canadian metropolitan area with the most number of Filipinos at 274,760, followed by Vancouver (133,925), and Winnipeg (77,305).

It’s no wonder that Filipino friends and families would often share posts about where they travel or eat in Canada. I got curious about Vancouver when I saw a post in Quora asking why there are so many Filipinos in Vancouver. Maybe it’s the cost of living, quality of life, job opportunities and the food. These are some of the things that Filipinos look for in a place to live.

Vancouver’s reputation is known the world over for filming and its steps in the tech world, but there’s more to this oceanside town than most people assume.  The following are the top three restaurants in the area with everything from excellent seafood to deliciously seared steak.

Blue Water Cafe

Stars: 4.7 out of 5.
Price: affordable for most people!
Food Type: seafood.

Because of where Vancouver is, it’s no wonder that the seafood at its restaurants would be the freshest and delicious seafood available.  Blue Water Cafe takes the idea of minimalism and efforts in appearance so that all attention can be on the food.  The restaurant itself functions within a heritage storage space, out of sight and out of mind to anyone who’s never heard of it, but those who are familiar are in love.

Hawksworth Restaurant

Stars: 4.4 out of 5.
Price: average for most restaurants.
Food Type: regional comfort.

For those who don’t think the Pacific Northwest has a style and taste of its own, they should try the delicious dishes at Hawksworth Restaurant.  Not only are all of the dishes expertly planned out, but everything will fill you with a sense of nostalgia you didn’t think you could get from food.  With a bar inside, this restaurant invites you to let yourself have some fun!  This is the best place to cool down after spending the day looking at Vancouver homes for sale.

Miku Vancouver

Stars: 4.6 out of 5.
Price: moderately expensive.
Food Type: seafood.

Sushi has fallen in and out of style on the west coast since it was unsustainable and terrible for the environment.    Miku Vancouver has worked to solve this by ethically and eco-consciously gathering all of their ingredients.  Not only does this ensure that the customers can eat their food guilt-free, but it also provides that the company can source every last ingredient if need be.  The sushi here is delicious!  Locals are raving about its clean and fresh flavor and excellent presentation.

Top of Vancouver

Stars: 4.1 out of 5.
Price: moderately expensive.
Food Type: regional comfort.

There are some days where all we need is some fried chicken and bread!  Top of Vancouver has you covered.  This restaurant works hard to serve up regional comfort foods in a way that would appeal to anyone while keeping up with high class and aesthetics.  Although this restaurant is more expensive than most others on this list, their food is delicious and worth it.

Kingyo

Stars: 4.6 out of 5.
Price: affordable for most people.
Food Type: Japanese food.

Instead of creating another restaurant that’s vaguely a mix of Chinese and Japanese food, Kingyo went the new route and trusted the consumers enough to know that they would love real Japanese food.  With authentic dishes that make Panda Express look like a chicken in Karo syrup, this restaurant knows how to keep its customers returning.  Not only is the food inexpensive, but it’s also quick to have delivered to your table and delicious to eat!  You’ll want to order dish after dish, and it won’t kill your wallet!
