Munsterific vs 7-Eleven: The Smackdown

Munsterific Vs 7-Eleven, which one do you think is the preferred convenience store of the Negenses? The war of the convenience stores has definitely reached the shores of Negros Occidental. This sort of reminds us of the turf war between Jollibee and McDonalds. Bacolod City is probably the only place in the Philippines where McDonalds has taken the lead over the bee.

Now we can see the same war happening where 7-Eleven is sprouting like mushrooms wherever there is a Munsterific. It makes business sense, where there is a thriving branch of Munsterific, there must be a consumer base to support it. Less work for consumer study for 7-Eleven. The question is, which one wins the heart of the Negrenses? Or at least, for the followers of this blog. That’s what we’ll try to find out in our little Munsterific Vs 7-Eleven face-off challenge.

Company Background

Munsterific, the homegrown advantage. Munsterific is a homegrown chain of convenience store started on September 27, 2004.  During that time, the only 24-hour convenience store you’ll find are those at the gasoline stations. Munsterific offered something new to the Bacolod consumers, a one-stop-shop that is in a clean and safe environment. By 2014, the company had grown to a total of 21 branches, 9 is company owned and 12 franchise and has branches in Iloilo.

7-Eleven, the giant challenger. 7-Eleven is a multinational chain of convenience store and there was a lot of buzz when 7-Eleven opened its first branch in Western Visayas at Two Sanparq. You can find long queues outside their store whenever they open. More often than not, wherever there’s a Munsterific, 7-Eleven is opening up a branch nearby. To date, there are 10 branches already in operation and 7-Eleven is targeting to open a total of 20 branches in Negros Occidental. They also started opening branches in Iloilo.
