Outdoor sports enthusiasts will be back on the trail for another round of action for the Salomon X-Trail Run in its Bacolod leg on December 13, 2015. Salomon started the annual event in the Philippines since 2010 which is also being held in other Asia Pacific countries aside from the Philippines namely Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan. The Salomon Pilipinas X-Trail events were previously held in premier locations in Luzon with beautiful scenery with a mix of different terrain and surfaces. This will be the second X-Trail to be held in Bacolod and the only in the Visayas. The first was held in 2013.
The Salomon X-Trail Run Bacolod leg will have three race categories so that runners with different skill levels can find a suitable trail for then. For the outdoor enthusiasts who want to take their running skills to the next level, the 6km and 12km trail run is a perfect introduction to trails. The registration fee for the 6km and 12km Road-To-Trail category is P500 and 700, respectively. The 24km Mountain Trail is targeted or experienced runners who wish to test their limits with steep ascents and multi-terrain challenges which stimulated skyrunning. The registration fee for the 24km category is P1,000. Registration fees will cover race bib, Salomon X-Trail technical jersey and mid-morning snacks. The first 100 registrants will get a Salomon Handheld water bottle.
A Trail Running 101 talk was held last December 5 to give trail runners some basic tips on trail running. Mr. Jojo Bonnin of the Negros Mountaineering Club gave the participants tips on what to do before and during the trail run. The Salomon X-Trail Run Bacolod is an environment-friendly race so runners are reminded to avoid leaving their trash on the trail. He also encouraged runners to bring their own drinking bottles since there will be refilling stations throughout the race trails.
