6 Things You Can Do At Vikings Bacolod That Do Not Involve Eating

Vikings Bacolod has been teasing Bacolodnons for months ever since they put up their posters outside their huge space at SM City Bacolod. They’ve been paying rentals for months without clearly saying when they will be opening. We speculated that it will be in October before the MassKara festival highlights but we thought wrong. They wanted their opening to stand out and not just be another event during MassKara festival.

The long wait is over and Vikings Bacolod, the first Vikings in the Visayas, is taking Bacolod by storm. They did their homework in all those months and learned what will endear them to the Bacolodnons and Negrenses in general. You just don’t come to Bacolod and challenge the homegrown food stalwarts. You have to satisfy the discriminating Negrense palate and offer more value for their money.

First thing you’ll notice when you go to Vikings Bacolod is its posh interior. Every Vikings branch has a different theme and for Bacolod, they chose Midnight Manhattan. We asked Marketing Manager Raquel Bartolome why Vikings management chose this theme and she told us because most Negrenses are well-traveled and known to have a discriminating taste not only in food but in the finer things in life so they chose a theme that is very elegant.

She said further that on the second opening day, the queue is not as long but reservations are already fully booked. Negrenses don’t like to wait in line so they booked earlier through telephone or through the Vikings Bacolod Facebook Page which is the fastest way to get your reservations. Vikings Bacolod can accommodate up to 400 persons so you can imagine how many foodies came out to eat at Vikings.

We all go to Vikings for the food but we don’t go there just to pig out, unless you want to die from too much eating. Here are other things that we can also enjoy when we eat at Vikings.

1. Learn About Different Cuisines Around the World

Vikings Luxury Buffet Bacolod offers 200 plus dishes. There’s Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Filipino, Italian among others. The choices seemed endless and there’s something for everybody. There’s meat, seafood, and vegetable choices. Vikings has standard courses but they change something everyday so you can’t expect the same set of menu everyday.

2. Enhance Your Food Photography Skills

Before eating, most of us take pictures of our food to be posted on our Facebook or Instagram accounts. Well, eating at Vikings Bacolod will give you a lot of freedom to be creative with your plating. And they also give you discounts if you follow their Facebook and Instagram accounts and share your Vikings experience.

3. Enjoy the Company of Family and Friends

We eat to live but for some of us, it seems that they live to eat. Who doesn’t love eating anyway? Since we all agree that eating is inevitable and we love eating then we might as well share the love with the people dear to us. I haven’t seen anybody eating at Vikings alone, it is always a family or a group of friends. It’s actually so much fun if you are with your family and friends because everybody can eat what they like. Nobody has to sacrifice what they love to eat in order to eat together.

A family that eats together, gets busog together.

4. Observe How They Operate Vikings

If you’re a culinary student or interested in a restaurant business, you would be interested to look at how they run Vikings. We’re lucky to get inside before the guests come in and the people work like clockwork. Everything should be in place at the right time and if something doesn’t work as planned, a course of action should be immediately implemented. So if they ran out of lechon, the kitchen will immediately cook something else like crispy pata. You can as well see how they prepare your food. The wait staff are very professional and customer service is excellent.

Below is a short video clip of the preparations at the kitchen.

5. Meet New People

It is interesting how you can meet new people at Vikings Bacolod. Everybody seems pleasant and relaxed. You go there without hurrying to leave and you no longer have to wait for your food to be served. There might be times that you have to share a table so it’s an opportunity to meet new people who also love good food.

6. Hold Meetings

Since we love to meet (the eating is purely accidental), Vikings Bacolod has three elegant meeting rooms which can accommodate 16 persons each. Meetings are more productive with too much food around because you no longer think of what to eat before, during and after the meeting.

It is with loving thoughts and happy memories that I remember the late Bambi Borromeo, advertising executive turned tour guide. We are pusong mamon with bitukang kargador.
