San Carlos City: Best Performing City in Western Visayas

San Carlos City is one of my favorite cities in Negros Occidental. Through my work, I was able to travel to San Carlos often and through this, observed the various developments that make this city stand out.
San Carlos City has been recipient of local and national awards for its various development programs and projects. Just recently, San Carlos City was named “Best Performing City in Western Visayas” by DILG’s Search for Excellence in Local Governance Award during the awarding ceremonies for Pagdayaw 2008 last December 17, 2008. San Carlos City also bagged the Excellence in Social Services and Excellence in Administrative Governance awards.
It’s a double victory for Negros Occidental since the province was also awarded as the Best Performing Province in Western Visayas. Bacolod City, Kabankalan City and the Municipalities of Hinigaran and Pulupandan likewise received various awards of excellence.

It’s not surprising because through the leadership of Mayor Bong Lacson, San Carlos City has implemented pioneering programs and projects which have been cited for excellence by various government and non government institutions.
San Carlos City’s programs “Lote Para sa Mahirap”, “Daan sa Kaunlaran”, “Punongkahoy sa Bawat Pumanaw” were Galing Pook Awardees and served as benchmark for other local government units.
Congratulations to the people and local government unit of San Carlos City. Vamos San Carlos!
